The Hitching Post
Family Farm which is located in Fairmount, Indiana
is operated by
Len and Stephanie who also have 4 children: Jackie,
Michael, David and Jason. The Wallace family has
been breeding large working dogs since 2000. They
started with the Great Pyrenees when they were
raising Boer goats with friends
from Friendship
Farms. Their love
of the larger breed working dog led them to the
addition of the Bernese Mountain
dog Newfoundland's and Saint Bernard's. Both families thoroughly enjoy all 4 breeds and the unique characteristics and temperament
they each possess.
The Farm has been inhabited for over
100 years. Prior to the Wallace Family the last person to live on this farm was
Joe Metcalf, who also raised dogs and other animals.
The tradition has continued as the Wallace's bought
the farm several years ago and Greg Wallace,
transformed the Farm into a haven for large breed
dogs and Boer goats.
The love of antiques and
an 18th century cast iron hitching post was the inspiration
for the name of the farm. The actual
hitching post design is carved into a 102 year old cedar
tree right by the house. Browse through out website and
share the love of country life and the haven of a BIG
dog!
